Tennis is a sport that can put many psychological demands on players. Elite players need to develop skills quickly to cope with the psychological demands of the sport. Compare tennis to football, for example – no substitutions, no hiding, no time limit, no teammates and, in youth tennis, invariably no referee! Imagine that in football! Since 2003 Roberto has been a performance consultant/sports psychologist for the successful LTA High-Performance Centre, The Bromley Tennis Academy. The Academy, set up by Clint Harris, caters for young elite players from 8yrs – 18yrs.

Between 2007 and 2009, Roberto was the National Performance Psychology manager for the Lawn Tennis Association, a role that saw him work with the best tennis talent in the country, and during this time, he worked extensively with Andy Murray, Laura Robson (who won Junior Wimbledon at the time), James Ward and Johanna Konta amongst many others. His role also involved working very closely with a number of teh LTA elite coaches.
